Count Oppersdorf commissioned it in the 17th century. It is a relatively massive structure with a large entry tower, accompanied by a small tower above the Presbytery. A popular place for a long time now for Sunday meetings, particularly the youth from the parish and its surroundings. Due to the increasing number of pilgrims, a large, honourable church from stone was built in 1770. In 1970, pilgrimages were forbidden and the place began to deteriorate. The pilgrimages have been renewed since 2002.

Late Gothic triple aisle church. It has undergone reconstruction several times from Romanesque, through Gothic and Renaissance, to Baroque. A fence encloses the church grounds, into which chapels of the Way of the Cross are set from the 2nd half of the 19th century. In 2001 the building underwent complete reconstruction of its exterior.

The church is an atypical church building of 17th century Pobelohorsko Baroque, which should have served as a chateau. Count Jiří Illésházy was the owner of the estate, which he dedicated to the Catholic Church as an unfinished building in 1683, after the original wooden church and parish had burnt down.

A 52 m tall tower rises from the frontispiece of the church. It is covered with a spire roof, topped by a bulb with a cross.
