Těšín Silesia

Did you know that?

Gorolé or goralé (Polish Górale; Těšín Gorole; Slovak Gorali, Czech horalové) are inhabitants of the mountainous regions of southern Poland, northern Slovakia and Těšínské Slezsko, who speak with their own specific dialect, even at the present. In the past they were mainly shepherds with particular costumes and customs.

Těšín Silesia – a region of two faces. It is formed by a mountainous part called the Těšínské Beskydy with a view of Lysá Mountain and the lowlands in the north on the borders with Poland. On one side the landscape is burdened by the mining industry, on the other it is a landscape with numerous stylish buildings and full of water area suitable for recreation. It is a somewhat undeservedly forgotten tourist region, which still proudly maintains its folklore customs and very specific dialect. The local dams are very attractive places not only for bathing and water sports lovers, but also for cyclists. Cycle trails along the Žermanické and Těrlické dams total more than 50 kilometres and lead you, among others, to the well-known Kotulově dřevěnce (half-timbered house) and other similar local points of interest. Walking trips can be directed at the primeval forest Mionší or the legendary Trojmezí on the borders between the Czech Republic, Poland and Slovakia. The Mosty Ski Resort near Jablunkova and the ski centres in Horní and Dolní Lomné are popular in winter.
